  • Machinery operator

    Job Description – Machinery operator

    Work Schedule: 35 hours/week (4-day schedule, Monday to Thursday) – extended leave replacement contract. May be available to work Fridays and weekends in case of emergency. Salary conditions: starting salary of $28.65/hr.

    Main Duties

    • Operate heavy machinery (backhoe, tractor, etc.) to transport and unload materials for roadwork.
    • Perform digging, filling, spreading, leveling, grading, and compacting of soil, gravel, etc.
    • Operate attachments for various machinery tasks.
    • Push and compact materials into the recycling center containers.
    • Ensure the machinery is in good working order and perform minor maintenance; check the battery, headlights, signal lights, brakes, tires, etc.; wash the machinery and keep it clean.
    • Assist the team as a general labourer when driving and/or operating the vehicle is not required (collaboration). • Operate a compressor, hydraulic pump, or other equipment and use these various accessories to perform a variety of tasks.
    • Perform manual tasks such as spreading, leveling, grading, and compacting soil, gravel, and similar materials.
    • Maintain work tools and perform repairs in case of minor breakdowns.
    • Perform any related tasks assigned by their supervisor.

    Required Profile

    • Hold a Highschool professional (DEP) in Road Transportation or equivalent experience.
    • 5 years of relevant experience
    • Demonstrated manual dexterity and practical knowledge of mechanics and construction
    • Team spirit and initiative
    • Sound judgment and sense of responsibility
    • Good knowledge of written and spoken French; bilingualism in English is a major asset
    • Good physical health (the employer reserves the right to require a medical examination)
    • Valid Class 3 driver's license - manual transmission (MAJOR ASSET)

  • Urban Planning intern

    The Township of Gore is seeking candidates for one (1) Urban Planning Student position for the summer of 2026.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Under the supervision of the Urban Planning Advisor, the Urban Planning Student will be responsible for explaining applicable regulations and laws to residents, processing permit applications, responding to complaints, and conducting site inspections. Specifically, they will:

    • Provide residents with the necessary information regarding municipal regulations and applicable urban planning and environmental laws;
    • Welcome and assist residents with the project process and/or permit and certificate applications;
    • Receive complaints from residents regarding non-compliance with urban planning and municipal regulations, and follow up with complainants;
    • Receive, analyze, and issue permits and certificates in accordance with urban planning regulations;
    • Inspect construction and renovation sites. Ensure that the work carried out complies with the issued permit;
    • Conduct inspection visits to ensure compliance with urban planning and environmental regulations and laws;
    • Produce the required reports and administrative documents;
    • Perform any other related tasks requested or necessary within the scope of the position.

    Requirements:

    • Our ideal candidate will:
    • Be a college or university student in urban planning, land use planning, or a related field;
    • Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;
    • Be bilingual in English and French;
    • Demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy, and tact;
    • Be able to work independently and take initiative;
    • Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written;

    Comments:

    Working conditions:

    Full-time position, 35 hours per week, for the summer period;

    Salary starting at $23/hour;
